The Black Salt is a small neighborhood cocktail bar in a historic Hamtramck building. Most evenings are relaxed and intimate, and the space works best for small groups and curious visitors who want to settle in and enjoy the experience.

The bar is small and seating is limited. Parties of 2 to 6 people tend to have the easiest time finding space.
If you are planning to visit with a larger group - more than 10 people - please contact us ahead of time so we can help guide you.
The Black Salt is a 21 and over space, and we ask all guests to bring valid identification.
Most guests visit simply for cocktails and conversation, but many also choose to experience our spell cocktails.
These drinks arrive with a small spell kit and instructions. Participation is always optional. Some guests choose to fully engage with the spell, while others simply enjoy the cocktail.
Both experiences are welcome.

PRIVATE EVENTS
The Black Salt is a small, intimate space, but we occasionally offer full bar buyouts for special gatherings.
Buyouts are typically suited for groups of 30 or more guests and require a minimum of five hours. Because this involves closing the bar to regular service, pricing reflects the scale of the evening.

Accessibility
The Black Salt operates in a historic building constructed in 1917. Because of the age and layout of the space, some physical limitations exist.
The main bar and seating area are located on the ground floor and are accessible through the front entrance. Restroom access and certain areas of the building may have limitations due to the historic structure.
